In a previous article, we provided a roadmap for increasing your water intake each day. To help you stay motivated, here are fresh new tips to keep you hydrated, healthy, and happy!
As we all know, drinking water has a myriad of benefits to your health. From balancing bodily fluids to keeping skin soft and supple, water plays a key role in overall physical well being. In a time when we are bombarded with tons of beverage options, drinking enough water everyday may seem like a chore. It doesn’t have to be: we’re providing four new ways to sneak more crisp, clean water into your daily routine.
Drink from a water bottle
Invest in the gift that keeps on giving: a sturdy reusable water bottle can provide big returns when it comes to your health, not to mention the colossal benefits for the environment. Drinking water from a designated bottle can help you track how much you’re drinking each day. And you’re in luck: there are tons of varieties out there, from BPA-free plastic cups with attached straws for the all-day sipper, to clip-on stainless steel bottles for the more active chuggers. If you don’t have a reusable bottle, don’t fret; simply refill your plastic bottle throughout the day.
Keep a water cooler in the kitchen
Water coolers: they’re great to gather around for break-room discussions of last night’s football game. But did you know having a water dispenser right in your home could be the just the ingredient you need to increase your water consumption?
Most of us don’t like the way tap water tastes, so we pass it by to get the sugary sodas or juices. Water dispenser to the rescue! A water cooler is a no-brainer when it comes to getting your daily fill of crisp, chemical-free water.
Did you know that you can get fresh, healthy spring water delivered right to your door? If you are in our service area (Monmouth, Ocean, Mercer, Cape May, Atlantic & Cumberland Counties in New Jersey), take a look at some great options for beverage delivery here.
Set a timer
Some of us need that external reminder to keep us on track to meet our daily water consumption goals. Try setting a time on your phone every hour or two to give you that gentle nudge to hydrate. After a while, you will no longer need the reminder, as you will have incorporated water drinking into your daily routine.
Dilute sugary drinks
So, you have to have that iced tea or fruit juice after a long day at work. We get it, but did you know you can get more of the water your body needs while still enjoying your favorite drinks? Previously, we recommended switching from high-calorie drinks to zero-calorie water, but for those who cannot go cold turkey, we have another solution:
Watering down your sugary beverages allows you to get the sweetness you crave without going into all-out sugar overload. Start by adding water to a third of your drink, then increase as your taste adapts. Over time, you’ll be cutting out calories from sugary drinks while reaping the benefits of increased water consumption. That’s a win-win if you ask us!
